I have been waiting for Pluto's switch for more than four months. And still waiting.
It is the notorious switch problem for lots of PT Cruisers after 40,000 milage. At the beginning, I was able to make the switch to left turn after shut off Pluto to keep the fog light off. I kept doing that for two months. Two incidents happened during that time. The first one was bearable. I forgot to switch to left turn and went shopping in Natick Mall for two hours and ran out Pluto's electric. I called Miranda Gong for AAA's number. AAA technician helped to jump start Pluto. And I drove Pluto for one hour to make the battery safe.
The second was bad and happened just after I flied back from SF. I went to office directly from airport and worked till 3PM. I tried to relax and watched some TV shows until 7PM. Just before I glided into my bed, the security guard called saying Pluto's lights were on. He thought I forgot to turn off the lights. I went to Pluto. But this time I could not make the lights off no matter what direction I put the switch. So I called AAA again to ask help. A technician came. A kind of arrogant one since he did not listen to me. He jumped start Pluto and then gonna to leave. Of course, I stopped him. Pluto did not need any jump start! He was so start or energetic that was not able to close his eyes! Finally the guy understood the situation. He tried to take out the fuse. But he could not find the correct one. Then I told him try to disconnect the cable from the bulbs. He found it 10 minutes later. OK, anyway, both Pluto and I were able to close eyes and go to sleep.
Then after waiting for another two months, I decided to give another try. I called my dealer. The part is still nationwide back order. But he said he no somewhere might have and gave me the phone number. I called. They do have! But they asked for around $270 for a regularly $74 part. They said they spent a lot to get those precious parts. I don't want to take it. Well, the part guy is pretty nice. And tell me the fuse number to disable the fog lights. It is fuse number 8!
Fuse number eight!
